Herman John Sommerville, 97 years old of Jamestown, IN, died Friday, January 6, 2012.

He was born December 29, 1914 in Jamestown, son of the late Harry and Lula Cole Sommerville.

He was a member of the Jamestown United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge at Hazelrigg.

Herman enjoyed reading, gardening, playing euchre and music. He played in a band in the 1930's and 40's.

Surviving are nieces, Connie (David) Jackson of Jamestown and Sharon (Jerry) Morris of Naperville, IL, 2 great-nieces, 2 great-nephews and 11 great-great nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Lowman, 3 sisters and 1 brother.

Friends will be received Tuesday, January 10, 2012, 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the Porter Funeral Home, Jamestown, Indiana. Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Lowell Spaulding officiating.

Interment will follow in the Jamestown I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
